The Mountainview ECO 3 is a freestanding dome tent built for the conditions Canadian campers actually face — sustained rain, dew-soaked mornings, temperature swings. With 51 ft² of floor space, dual vestibules, and industry-leading waterproofing, it's the tent a group of three can rely on through a full camping season.

Will it keep me dry?

The floor is rated to 5000mm — most tents in this price range sit at 1500–2000mm. The 150D polyester oxford floor is over double the thickness of a standard tent floor. The High/Low Vent Air Exchange System on both doors manages condensation so you're not waking up damp from the inside. Full-coverage rainfly extends over both vestibules — boots and gear stay outside, not puddling in the doorway.

How hard is it to set up?

Two-pole freestanding dome. Stands on its own before you stake it. The ridgepole adds head and shoulder room above a standard dome so it doesn't feel like crawling into a tube. Stake down the vestibules and guy-lines for wind. Front and rear doors — people can get in and out without climbing over each other.

Will it last?

7001-series aluminum frame. YKK zippers throughout — the zipper brand that tents twice the price use. 4 interior storage pockets. UV protected. PFAS-free. SOR/2024-217 certified.

Who designed it

Built in collaboration with Jim Stevens — the former Sales Manager at Eureka Canada, whose job it was to know which tents worked in the field and which didn't, and exactly why. When Eureka stopped production in 2024, we spent a year working with Jim to build something that captured everything that made the El Capitan trusted by scouts, guides, and serious campers for decades. And improved on it.
